A useful guide to vibrators

To many, choosing a vibrator can be a daunting task, particularly when faced with such a wide and varied selection like the range on our website. We thought we’d help you out by giving you an idea on how they vary, and have provided information to make sure you select the vibrator that’s best for you.

Vibrators come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, and it’s important to select the one which will give the most pleasure. If you do have any further questions about them, then feel free to contact us

Material
Vibrators range from those which are made from the harder plastic, metal and glass, to the softer jelly and latex. Plastic vibrators are popular as they easily transfer vibrations from the motor to the user. Silicone vibrators are also popular as they are durable, and retain body heat well. Generally, silicone vibrators have a texture which is soft to touch, yet still somewhat firm. Jelly vibrators are the softest type you can buy. Their description is deceptive as they are not as soft as the jelly you may eat with a trifle, but have a consistency which is more similar to a shell-less hardboiled egg. You can also purchase Cyberskin vibrators, which are designed to be realistic as possible, by imitating the look and feel of human skin, and provide a really different vibrator experience. Glass vibrators are also available, which are easy to clean and last a long time.

Battery or electric?
The typical choice many users face is whether to opt for a battery powered vibrator, which can be easily portable. Or sacrifice portability for a bit more power with an electric vibrator. There is of course a compromise... rechargeable vibrators. Once fully charged, these can be used for hours without having to recharge.

Cleaning
You should clean your vibrator before and after use each use. Take care when cleaning to ensure any water / liquid does not come into contact with the mechanical part of the vibrator (unless you have a waterproof one of course). Most vibrators can be cleaned using soap and water, or specialist sex toy cleaner

Lubrication
Water-based lubricants are common accompaniment to most vibrators, although Silicone-based lubricants are becoming increasingly popular, as they can be longer lasting, and less likely to dry (please bear in mind that silicone-based lubricants are not compatible with sex toys made of silicone themselves, or Cyberskin sex toys).

Noise level
This is also something you should consider when purchasing a vibrator. Battery-powered vibrators can be noisier than electric vibrators, but this will of course vary from style to style, and brand to brand. Plastic vibrators do tend to be louder than the silicone or jelly variety, however specialist very quiet plastic vibrators are available.
